In Class
The first few minutes were dedicated to a surprise quiz on the first 4 chapters of The Great Gatsby. The class was divided into 8 groups. Each group was assigned a character in which they had to describe his/her physical and personality traits and provide evidence. Each group had to also supply us with the connectons this character has to others in the novel. Once finished with that, we had to answer 2 questions pertaining to Chapter 4.

Homework
Read and annotate Chapter 5. Write a journal entry from Daisy’s point of view. What do you think are her feelings about Tom’s affair with Myrtle (even though she doesn’t exactly know who Myrtle is)? Is she in denial? How does she feel about Gatsby? Make a prediction on what you think she will do as the novel progresses, in terms of her marriage. 3 paragraphs, double-spaced
