In Class
Today we finished our discussion on themes in The Great Gatsby and Chapter 8. we began to discuss Chapter 9. Each student was assigned a character for homework.

Homework
Answer the following questions as they pertain to the character you were assigned in class.
Gatsby ("steals" a man's wife from him, for a while; hit and run in his car)
Daisy (cheater; murderer)
Tom (womanizer; abuser; cheater)
Jordan (guilty by association; knows about all affairs)
Nick (withholds information; hangs out with the wrong crowd)
Myrtle (adulterer; runs into traffic)
Wilson (locks up wife; doesn’t give wife enough attention/money)
*Why does this character deserve our sympathy? Why are the other characters the "guilty" ones? Be sure to develop a strong argument to convince each other. 2 paragraphs
*TIP: PRETEND YOU ARE THIS CHARACTER'S LAWYER. YOU HAVE TO PRESENT A STRONG ARGUMENT TO PROVE THAT THEY ARE INNOCENT OF THE "CRIMES" THEY HAVE COMMITTED.
